  • Mission Report August 10, 2015

15-013; Aug 10 - Fish Creek Falls Mission. A 69 yr old male from Arkansas was coming back from Long Lake along the Fish Creek Trail when he slipped and fell crossing a small creek.  He had some back discomfort but continued down the trail to above a quarter mile from the upper falls until he could no longer continue.  His brother continued down the trail and found some other hikers at the 2nd bridge who had a cell phone and called 911 around 8:00pm.  The brother continued down with the other hikers to the Fish Creek parking lot and gave some additional information to the Sheriff’s Deputy and SAR members who would be going up the trail from the parking lot.  An additional team on ATVs went to Dry Lake and rode in on ATVs to Long Lake and took one ATV down the trail to meet up with the other team and the subject.  He was transported out via riding on the ATV to the Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle that had come up to Long Lake to transport the subject and team members who had hiked up from the bottom.  The subject was in good condition and spirits and did not need medical attention.  All units were back at the rescue barn at 2:00am.

  • Mission Report March 20, 2015
15-008; Mar 20 – a father and daughter had gotten separated from their snowmobile tour group and were reported overdue.  A team on snowmobiles went out to look for them in the directed that was most probable for them to have made the incorrect turn back to the tour operation and due to the age of the daughter (5 yrs) and now dark with no moon the helicopter was asking to help with NVG goggles.  It only took a short time for the helicopter to spot the fire that the first tour guide that was out looking for them had started.  All parties were fine and got a nice ride back via the helicopter.  It was a joint mission for RSCAR with the help of North Routt Fire and Classic Air Ambulance and one civilian with extensive knowledge of the area.

  • Mission Report March 18, 2015
15-007; Mar 18 – a cross country skier on Loop 1A had gotten off the trail and was calling for assistance because it was now dark and she had fallen a few times and was now just unsure she could return to the trailhead without assistance.  A team on snowshoes and a team on skis made their way to the subject and gave her a pair of snowshoes and got her back to her vehicle.  The snow conditions were extremely poor due to the higher than average temperature.

15-006; Mar 14 – female snowmobiler high on top of Farwell Mountain had hit a depression and was in extreme discomfort.  The call first went out to State Parks and NR Fire.  RCSAR joined in but by the time our team had arrived on scene State Parks (through the request of the family) had called for a helicopter and it was just lifting off.  The patient had significant abdominal injuries.
